Name of the Magazine

The name of the magazine which is The Exigency reflects the realities of the society which always call people to be of a greater service to their fellowmen, to be authentic servants for the greater good of the community where they belong. It can be considered as a call to serve others even such service is accompanied by certain extents of difficulties and challenges. The word ‘exigency’ is a special situation, a need, or an extraordinary circumstance which calls people to respond immediately and that any form of delay in response will be detrimental to a larger community. When there is an exigency, specifically for people’s services to be rendered to others, the need to respond and to willingly serve become primary, a service without reservations, without further delays even if this service is faced with various challenges.

In philosophy, the word ‘exigency’ may be discussed in relation to the Latin word ‘acquiesce’. The ‘exigency’ is the difficult situation or circumstance which calls people to be of service to others even in difficult situations. The ‘acquiesce’ is the response, consent, or compliance to that call even if doing so involves the existence of a challenging situation. It is saying the ‘yes’ in the name of authentic service to others.

The Exigency, therefore, shall serve as the call while the contribution of articles in this magazine, while it is seemingly beneficial only to the concerned author/s and the publisher, shall serve as the service – the response to fellowmen in need of certain sources of inspiration for them to live life to the fullest, to only aim for the best, and to serve the Almighty through service to others. The articles contributed to the magazine shall serve as one’s answer to that call to serve, to serve as an inspiration to others.
